I remember at the age of nine attending a mission’s conference, and having the opportunity to fill out a form saying “I would give my life to serving the Lord no matter where He might lead me”. I was so ready to go! To do whatever I could for the sake of the gospel….
As the men passed the offering plate, I proudly put the form that I have filled out in the plate, but before the men had finished passing it around I ran to the back and asked if I could make a change to the form. The man smiled and handed me the piece of paper. I simply wrote “NEVER MIND” and put it back in the plate!
How often do we as Christians boldly tell God YES! And then tremble at the thought of following through with what we just committed in our hearts we would do.
I am so humbled at the thought that the Lord of all creation would choose to use a weakling as myself, but I can stand boldly knowing that He has called me and I am serving a great God. This is something I have desired for so long, to be in full-time ministry. I look forward to what lies ahead.
Heather,
I love this story and your honesty. Only a child would have the courage really to go back and ask for the form again to cancel their original plan. I could see my grandson who is 10 do this very thing. His heart is so open to the things of God, yet his flesh already is fighting. But his honesty is what always touches my heart even when the honesty is not pretty.
I pray God will bless you greatly for all the honesty you have shared through this blog!
